Cornerstone Anglican Church is a member parish of the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC) under the authority and care of our Diocesan (Lead) Bishop, The Right Rev. Charlie Masters. Shortly after Cornerstone Church was established in July 2012, we received an encouraging letter of welcome from the previous Lead Bishop of ANiC, The Right Rev. Donald Harvey which read:  “...what a delight to welcome you into the growing Anglican Network in Canada family.  ... For many Anglican Network parishes and parishioners, the journey has been long and painful – a journey of faithfulness in the midst of intense opposition and soul-searching struggle.  And yet they – and you – have persevered.  With God’s gracious help and loving care, you have been gathered together into this Biblically-faithful community.  May God richly bless all of you in Cornerstone Anglican Church!  And may He bless your vision of reaching those in your community who need to hear the Good News of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  As I welcome you as a church in the Anglican Network in Canada, I also welcome you on behalf of our Primate, Archbishop Robert Duncan of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).  The ACNA is home to our “extended church family” in North America, a family of nearly 1000 churches and around 100,000 parishioners.  Now, as you embrace the rewarding work of firmly planting your new parish may your roots go deep into the rich soil of God’s Word; may your trunk soar high to God in worship and praise; and may your branches reach far into your community as you winsomely offer the Good News to those who desperately need our Saviour.  May the joy we now share help sustain and give us the zeal to continue in this good work that God has begun in us.  Our Lord tells us in Luke 12; 32-34,  “ Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.  Sell your possessions, and give alms; provide yourselves with purses that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches, and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  Whatever challenges the future may hold, we have the opportunity to be a clear witness to our world of where both our heart and our treasure really are.  May God bless you and make you a powerful witness and a blessing to many."

ANiC is a diocese within the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) and is in fellowship with millions of biblically faithful Anglicans from every continent.  We consider it a privilege to be part of the worldwide Christian Church made of people from a wide variety of denominations who worship and serve under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Cornerstone Anglican Church held its opening worship service on Sunday, July 22, 2012 (10:30am) at the Sardo Hall on Maxwell Street in Sarnia, Ontario. On Sunday, September 9, 2012 our Sunday worship location moved to the Sarnia Christian School (at Exmouth Street and Pontiac Drive) in Sarnia, Ontario [map] where we continued to meet until the end of June 2015. Since then, we have been worshipping right next door at Living Hope Christian Reformed Church due to renovations taking place at the school. On Sunday, September 11, 2016, we return to newly renovated service facilities at Sarnia Christian School. Our Sunday worship times will then return to 9:00am (traditional Book Of Common Prayer) and 10:30am (contemporary).

We, at Cornerstone Anglican Church, along with all other ANiC churches, affirm the historic creeds of the Christian Church (Apostles’, Nicene and Athanasius) and the foundational documents of Anglicanism (such as the Book of Common Prayer).  Some of our core beliefs, shared by Christians throughout the world and summarized in The Jerusalem Declaration document (2008), include:

  • the supreme authority of the Bible in all matters of faith and morality
  • the Trinity: one God in Three Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)
  • the full humanity and divinity of Jesus Christ who is the only Saviour and Lord
  • people’s salvation by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ made possible through Christ’s death and resurrection
  • the presence and power of the Holy Spirit for all who believe in Jesus Christ
  • the return of Jesus at what is known as His second coming
  • God’s gift of eternal life for all those redeemed by Jesus

In response to our friendship with Jesus, Cornerstone Anglican Church members are committed to the proclamation of the Gospel – the Good News of Jesus – and to reach out in His name to make a positive difference in the lives of others so that many more people will come to know Jesus as their Saviour and Lord.  We give thanks to God that the ANiC leadership encourages and equips its member churches to discover and fulfill all the plans God has for them.  We invite you to join us in this mission.  A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at Cornerstone Anglican Church
