BIBLE STUDIES: Since our purpose as a church family is "to know Jesus, that He may be known", we provide many Bible studies. And why? Because if we commit to getting to know scripture -- the Word -- then we are actually getting to know Jesus more because as found in John 1:1-14 of the Bible, we learn that Jesus is also known as the Word, or to state it more precisely, He is the Word that "became flesh". If we commit to understanding the Bible more, then we will come to know Jesus more including His will, His ways, His character, His plans, and the depth of His love for us.

TUESDAY EVENING 7:00-8:30pm BIBLE STUDIES at Cornerstone Anglican Church

Tuesday December 5 2017 DESIGN FOR DISCIPLESHIP

Colossians 1:9-12
And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
-- The Apostle Paul --

1ST FRIDAY PRAYER MEDITATION
A biblical reflection written by the Anglican Network's Prayer Coordinator:
The Rev. Garth Hunt

Hard copy available on the Resource Table.

PRAYER TEAMS:  There are many prayer teams that meet on a regular basis so if you have a prayer need/request, contact the church office (519-491-5384) so the information can be passed on to one or more of the teams.

PRAYER MINISTRY: For those who are hurting, struggling to overcome various sin issues, in need of the Lord's forgiveness and/or struggling in some way, Prayer Ministry may be for you. Remember, the healing love of our Lord Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever which means He can bring healing not only to recent hurts you have experienced, but to those experienced long, long ago. As Jesus said about Himself: "The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour." (Luke 4:18-19) Jesus proclaimed these things about Himself while He was reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah in a synagogue. (See Isaiah 61:1) His healing love and victory is available to you. Jesus wants you to experience Him wonderfully surprising ways. If you want to find out if Prayer Ministry is for you, then contact the church office to find out more information.

OUR DAILY BREAD devotional booklets -- In case you haven't yet picked up a copy of the current OUR DAILY BREAD devotional booklet, the newest (December to February editions) as well as some special editions (Canada 150 & Prayer Changes Things) are currently available. You will find the booklets on the table near the door as you enter. Some extra copies are also provided for you to give away to others. Since OUR DAILY BREAD was first published in 1956, it has become the resource for which RBC Ministries is best known. The daily devotional thoughts published in OUR DAILY BREAD help readers spend time each day in God's Word. OUR DAILY BREAD is published and distributed worldwide in more than 40 languages by RBC Ministries offices around the globe. RBC Ministries also produces a variety of other Bible resources, which are available for the asking. RBC Ministries is not funded or endowed by any group or denomination, but instead by many people, making even the smallest of donations, who enable RBC Ministries to reach others with the life-changing wisdom of the Bible.

WE THANK GOD FOR WORSHIP MUSIC LEADER REV. KARL BERG who blesses us with his praise songs many Sundays. Please keep Karl and Mia as well as their children -- Kyrsten, Erik and Bjorn -- in your prayers as they serve Jesus in various locations from week to week. Their home-base, however, is Goderich. I remember Karl also mentioning that you can access all his music, including The Cradle To The Cross songs, via the EAGLES WINGS web site: http://eagleswings.ca/the-cradle-to-the-cross.html If you want to listen to any of The Cradle to the Cross songs, just click this link: http://eagleswings.ca/the-cradle-to-the-cross.html

MEMORIAL FLOWERS - Jessie Hillier has offered to be our Memorial Flowers Coordinator. She has a sign-up sheet available if you would like to provide memorial flowers on one or more weeks TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY of family and/or friends. Please provide her: (1) donor name(s); (2) in whose memory the flowers have been given; (3) if you have any specific place(s) or person(s) in mind as to where the flowers would go following the worship services.

When you donate memorial flowers they will be acknowledged during the OFFERTORY part of each worship service because, in my humble opinion, you are offering them to God for a variety of reasons such as: (1) to ask God for His ongoing comfort, love, encouragement, peace and strength as you continue to remember and grieve the loss of loved ones; (2) to give thanks to God for the lives of those you are honouring and remembering; (3) to have the flowers used to bless others once the worship services are over. Therefore, this wording will be used to announce the donation of flowers during our worship services: "The flowers at the altar have been given by... To the glory of God and in loving memory of..."

Please "connect" directly with Jessie Hillier about Cornerstone Anglican Church's memorial flowers ministry. Jessie's home number is: 519-336-7591 or email her.

In your prayers, uphold those whom you know are hurting, suffering, in pain and/or struggling in some way. Remember, the healing love of our Lord Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever which means He can bring healing not only to recent hurts we have experienced, but to those experienced long, long ago. (See Isaiah 61:1) And His healing love and victory is available to you and the others for whom you pray.

THANK YOU TO OUR WORSHIP SERVICE MUSIC LEADERS -- Christine Roe, Andrew Marcoux, The Rev. Karl Berg (Eagles Wings Ministries), The Rev. Jeremy Doorten (I Am Second & e3 Partners Ministry), Christeena Neinhuis, Jeremy Giles, Nicole Veenkamp, Rachel Abma, Dean Holtz, Lucas & Taryn Roberts.

GEMS (for girls in Grades 1 to 8):
The discipleship program for elementary school girls -- Grades 1 to 8 -- is known as GEMS: Girls Everywhere Meeting the Saviour. The GEMS mission statement reads:
"our mission is to bring girls everywhere into a living, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ."

In order to do this, teams of adult women are trained to "mentor" the girls. GEMS was founded on the principles defined in Titus 2. GEMS is an exciting, safe environment for girls to learn about God, His Word, and His world via...
...learning how to apply the Bible to their lives;
...participating in service projects that make a difference in the lives of others;
...developing important life skills while earning badges;
...praising the Lord in song;
...working on crafts and playing games that teach the girls biblical stories.

General information about GEMS can be found by going to this web site: http://www.gemsgc.org/index.php

For more information and/or to register for GEMS, please contact the church office or send an email to youth@cornerstonesarnia.ca

CADETS (for boys in Grades 1 to 8):
The discipleship program for elementary school boys -- Grades 1 to 8 -- is known as CADETS. The CADETS mission statement is as follows: "helping boys to grow more Christlike in all areas of life." As with the GEMS girls' ministry, teams of adult men are trained to mentor boys to encourage them to give their lives to Jesus Christ, and once they know Jesus as their Saviour, then to help the boys grow spiritually "in Christ" in all areas of life (devotional, mental, physical, and social). In CADETS boys have the opportunity to earn badges as well. For more information and/or to register for CADETS, please contact the church office or send an email to youth@cornerstonesarnia.ca

If you have any questions about GEMS or CADETS, contact youth@cornerstonesarnia.ca and we can help you get "connected" to the respective organizers.

If you have any questions about any of the above information, please contact the church office at 519-491-5384.
AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR:

Colossians 2:2-3

My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
